Terms Of Reference

Purpose

The delivery of core child protection training is a 'shared activity' of the Child Protection Partnership. The purpose of the Training Group is to agree a Training Calendar of core child protection training for the multi-agency workforce across the three local authority areas of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray. A full time Child Protection Multi-Agency Training Co-ordinator post and a part time administrative support post is funded on a multi-agency basis to deliver and administer the training.

Membership

  • Chair and Lead Officers on a rotation basis
  • Aberdeen CPC Lead Officer/Committee Representative
  • Aberdeenshire Child and Family Protection Committee Lead Officer/Committee Representative
  • Moray CPC Lead Officer/Committee Representative
  • Partnership Multi-agency Child Protection Training Co-ordinator
  • Any other representative/person as agreed by the group

Objectives

  • To develop a confident, competent workforce by the provision of multi-agency core child protection training opportunities that complement existing single service training provisions
  • To contribute towards the care and protection of children by promoting the principles of early identification, intervention and support, reflective of the GIRFEC National Practice Model and approach
  • To contribute to workers development of the necessary core competencies, key knowledge, skills and values to deliver a consistently high standard of support to children, young people and their families

Responsibilities

  • To meet 6 times a year, or more regularly should this be required
  • To represent their respective Committees perspective and views
  • To provide feedback to their Committee/associated sub-group/s
  • Actively participate in the work of the Training Group
  • Identify, develop and evaluate the Child Protection Training Calendar in line with national and local developments
  • Identify and communicate practice issues and learning from the Training Sessions as required
  • Quality assure the Training Calendar and its content through evaluations, discussions, feedback and observation
  • To co-ordinate and deliver one-off events in response to CPC training needs
  • Make appropriate links to single service learning and development
  • Evaluate the impact of the Training Calendar on practice and outcomes for children

Reporting

  • The minutes of the Child Protection Partnership Training Group will be made available to Committees/delegated sub-groups (via their Committee arrangements)
  • The Training Group will provide a quarterly report for the three Committees/delegated sub-groups (via their Committee arrangements) and the Chief Officers Public Protection Group
  • An annual Training Report will be made available for Committees and the Chief Officers Public Protection Group

Review

The Terms of Reference will be reviewed on a two year basis or earlier if required.
